A Ross reel with the machining left in. The Machinist Edition Evolution LTX is a tribute to the people and process behind every Ross reel, and those people work about a mile from our front door in Montrose, Colorado.
Instead of a colored anodize, the frame and spool get a clear Native Metal finish that leaves the tool paths and machining marks visible. Ross didn't polish away the evidence of how the reel was made; they put it on display. No two look exactly alike.
Under the finish it's the same Evolution LTX we hang on more customer trout rods than anything else in the shop: light, very smooth, with a stacked-disc drag more than four times stronger than the old Evolution LT. The 5/6 is our most-sold LTX size and the right call if one reel has to do everything, from trout water to light salt.
