Orvis SSR Disc Spey Fly Reel — Swing, Step, Repeat
The Orvis SSR Disc Spey Reel (Swing, Step, Repeat) is designed to match two-handed fly fishing rods of varying length and line weights — and the methodical, slowed-down pace of today's two-handed angler. Available in Black in sizes III (5-7wt), IV (7-9wt), and V (9-11wt). Each reel begins life as a solid chunk of bar-stock aluminum, machined to tight tolerances.
Critical to the SSR's design is its unique porting system — not only does it allow backing and running lines to dry after rain-soaked sessions, it drains a dunked reel quickly to eliminate the dreaded "ice donut." That feature alone goes unnoticed until temps drop deep and everyone else's reels are freezing up.
The Hydros-proven sealed disc drag protects lighter trout spey-sized tippets on lower settings, yet can be dialed up to stun mode when a large specimen finds the heavy water. The drag knob features a tactile outdent so you can feel the drag position without taking your eyes off the fish. A radiused, rounded reel foot lets you bend a leader around its smooth edges without kinking.
