The saltwater Asquith — G. Loomis's flagship, and the only fly rod in their catalog whose blank is rolled outside the United States. Blanks come from Shimano's Spiral X facility in Kumamoto, Japan, then are hand-finished in Woodland, Washington.
Why Spiral X matters more in salt than anywhere else. The three-layer construction — core, longitudinal middle, reverse-axis fiber outer — exists to reduce ovalization under load. A blank flattening under a hard double haul into wind is exactly where a saltwater rod loses energy, and it is exactly the load Spiral X was built to resist. G. Loomis: virtually instantaneous power transmission, whether generating high line speed during the cast or maintaining control when fighting powerful fish.

Loomis redesigned the Asquith for 2026, moving to Spiral X Core with Toray Nanoalloy resin, Fuji T3 black titanium SiC strippers, black PVD recoil snakes, and a new curved fixed-hood reel seat with refined knurling for better clamping.
