Trout spey, done the Winston way. The Microspey Air 2 is built on Air 2 graphite with a medium-fast action that keeps the Winston feel while recovering fast enough to hold a line in wind and at distance.
The detail that separates it: an 11-inch ultra-thin fore-grip with a longer 4-inch bottom grip, designed specifically for trout spey. Winston's own note is that it feels more “trout” than “spey”, and the slim diameter is there to reduce blown anchors. Anyone who has fought a fat spey handle on a small rod will understand immediately.
And the reel seat is burled maple with double down-locking nickel silver rings — not the anodized aluminum of the bigger Air 2 TH. It looks like a trout rod because it is one.

Note that these are specific recommendations, not ranges. Winston says they deliberately built tighter grain windows so each model lines up with a particular trout-spey head rather than a broad window. That is genuinely useful — it means less experimenting — but it also means getting the line right matters more here than on a rod with a 50-grain window.
